Careers

Build tools that deliver.

GSS gimbals travel the world making impossible shots real and bringing unprecedented imaging capability to users across multiple industries. If you want to build precision technology that gets used in the real world — hard, in demanding conditions, by people who depend on it — this is the place.

Small team. Real impact.

GSS is a 40-person company in Grass Valley, California. We design, manufacture, and support some of the most technically demanding imaging systems in the world — across broadcast, cinema, utility inspection, law enforcement, and custom programs that push the edges of what’s possible.

At this size, everyone’s work matters. You’re not a department — you’re part of a team that builds things from scratch, solves real problems, and sees the results in the field.

Electro-Mechanical Assembler

You’ll work hands-on in the assembly of precision gyro-stabilized systems — building, inspecting, and supporting the products that go into the field. This role sits at the intersection of mechanical and electrical assembly, and requires the kind of attention to detail that complex, high-stakes equipment demands.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, rework, and test electrical and mechanical assemblies
  • Inspect assemblies and electronics for workmanship defects
  • Review diagrams, drawings, and engineering specifications prior to assembly
  • Support manufacturing documentation, engineering change requests, and product modification processes
  • Support technical training of manufacturing and engineering staff
  • Recommend selection of manufacturing assembly and test equipment

Qualifications:

  • Ability to understand and assemble complex mechanical systems
  • Effective soldering and crimping skills
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, system and PCB layouts, and test procedures
  • Experience with rework, quality requirements, and manufacturing standards
  • Experience with machining, specifically manual mill
  • High School Diploma required; 2-year Technical Certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

CNC Machine Operator

You’ll set up and operate CNC machine centers and lathes to produce precision components for GSS gimbal systems — working to tight tolerances with the kind of care that mission-critical hardware requires.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all required set-ups on CNC machine centers and/or lathes
  • Operate CNC and manual machines to produce high-quality parts
  • Monitor machines during operation to ensure proper functionality
  • Use precision measuring instruments (dial calipers, snap gauges, micrometers) to verify part accuracy
  • Fabricate component parts to engineering and blueprint specifications
  • Set up and operate auxiliary equipment as needed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years operating and maintaining CNC equipment; programming skills and technical certifications a plus
  • Over 2 years setting up and operating manual machines (lathes, mills, saws, drills)
  • Strong knowledge of tooling, feeds and speeds, and GD&T for various metals and alloys
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and CMM
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
  • Proficiency in Fusion 360 and Haas controls a plus

Salary range: $45,000 – $71,000 DOE
