Technology
A GSS gimbal is the platform. What you build on it is the system. Here are the technologies that turn stabilized imaging into a complete operational capability.
Rain Deflector
Get the shot. Rain or shine. The GSS Rain Deflector spins at up to 2,800 RPM, using centrifugal force to keep water off the lens port — so rain becomes a non-issue instead of a wrap call.
Video Tracker
Lock on. Stay on. The GSS Video Tracker keeps your gimbal locked on a moving target — automatically. Once you acquire a track, the system handles the work of keeping it in frame while your operator stays focused on the bigger picture.
Moving Maps
Always know where you’re pointed — and where you’ve been. GSS Moving Maps integrates real-time geo-referenced mapping directly into the gimbal system, supporting complete operational workflows for utility inspection and law enforcement.
GeoPro™ INS
Precision geo-location, built into the platform. GeoPro™ is GSS’s proprietary inertial navigation system — the technology that turns a stabilized camera into a full situational awareness tool.
The accessories you need
Whether it’s a rain deflector or a remote-controlled Revolva, it’s essential to make the tools you need accessible when you need them.

And with hundreds of systems deployed worldwide, our customer support team delivers every day on our commitment to maximize operational time and keep those systems working.
Rain Deflector
Ready to Shoot – Rain or Shine
The GSS Rain Deflector guarantees a successful shoot come rain or shine, but it only works with GSS gimbals. The spinning motion from the brushless motor keeps water droplets off the glass offering a crisp, clear picture. You can rest assured, no matter what Mother Nature has in store, there will be no surprises here.
Get the shot. Rain or shine.
Weather doesn’t care about your shooting schedule. The GSS Rain Deflector spins at up to 2,800 RPM, using centrifugal force to keep water off the lens port — so rain becomes a non-issue instead of a wrap call.
Controlled directly from the GSS hand controller menu, with variable spin speeds in 25% increments. Quick-release installation means it’s on when you need it and off when you don’t.
Compatibility
Available for most lens configurations on Cinema Mini 512EX, Cinema Pro 516, Cinema Pro+ 520, Cineflex 512EX, and Cineflex Pro 516. Gimbals can also be configured with a Rain Deflector Ready kit at time of purchase or during servicing for simple drop-in installation later.
Video Tracker
Lock on. Stay on.
The GSS Video Tracker is an optional software integration that keeps your gimbal locked on a moving target — automatically. Once you acquire a track, the system handles the work of keeping it in frame while your operator stays focused on the bigger picture.
Highly configurable and available across the full gimbal lineup, the tracker is purpose-built for surveillance, law enforcement, and broadcast applications where the subject is on the move.
Key capabilities
Acquisition Assist automatically searches for the optimal track box around an initial selection — useful for fast-moving targets. Intelligent Assist adapts the track box in real time as the target’s appearance changes. Object Detection highlights potential track targets in the scene before you’ve even selected one. Detection Track Cueing lets operators transition from area detection to a locked object track seamlessly.
Compatible with all GSS gimbal platforms.
Moving Maps
Always know where you’re pointed — and where you’ve been.
For utility inspection and law enforcement operations, the map is the mission. GSS Moving Maps integrates real-time geo-referenced mapping directly into the gimbal system — so operators can import flight plans, navigate to specific assets, manage aerial operations, and build a complete geo-tagged record of everything the camera sees, all in a single workflow.
Utility teams use it to import KML waypoints and photograph infrastructure assets systematically — ensuring full coverage and a queryable archive tied to exact coordinates. Law enforcement operators rely on it for continuous aerial mission management, keeping ground teams and airborne operators oriented to the same picture in real time.
For broadcast operators, Moving Maps passes full-bandwidth SDI video through the system — overlaying mapping data on an uncompressed image without any quality penalty.
Key features
Streets, roads, and points of interest overlaid on live video with operator-selectable detail level. KML import and point display. Geopoint, Geohold, and Geolock modes. Operator-insertable geo-referenced overlays. Speedometer tracking. Blur tool. Compatible with both IR and daylight cameras. Seamless integration with any GSS gimbal platform.
GeoPro™ Inertial Navigation System
Precision geo-location, built into the platform.
GeoPro™ is GSS’s proprietary inertial navigation system — the technology that turns a stabilized camera into a full situational awareness tool. Using a high-accuracy internal IMU, GeoPro™ knows exactly where the gimbal is, what it’s pointed at, and what’s in the frame — and it makes that data available in real time for your operators, your mission systems, or your post-production workflow.
Because GSS owns the entire software stack, GeoPro™ is fully customizable. Data output format, external control protocols, third-party system integration — if your application has specific requirements, we can adapt the system to meet them.
What it does
Overlays geo-referenced data on live video. Records or streams geo-data in .csv format or via custom Ethernet protocol for third-party software integration. Supports KML point display and import, metadata insertion, pilot assistance, digital elevation modeling, and heading input correction. Geo-lock holds the camera pointed at a fixed ground point regardless of aircraft movement.
