Hand Controllers
The gimbal is only as good as the operator experience. Every GSS controller is developed in consultation with the people who use it — built for the specific demands of each market, not as a one-size-fits-all afterthought.
Utility Controllers
Utility operators work with both hands across long inspection flights, managing gimbal movement and sensor controls simultaneously. GSS offers two controller options for utility configurations — both two-handed, each sized for a different preference.
The compact utility controller is a purpose-built, hand-held unit — lighter and more ergonomic than a traditional lap controller, with a full complement of configurable macro buttons within easy reach of both thumbs. For operators who spend hours in the aircraft, the reduced weight and tighter form factor make a real difference.
The lap-sized utility controller offers a larger format derived from our broadcast and cinema lines — more surface area for operators who prefer a stable platform in their lap and want access to a broader range of controls in a more traditional layout.
Surveillance Controllers
Designed specifically for law enforcement and public safety operators, the GSS surveillance controller is built for single-handed use — leaving the other hand free for radios, documentation, or whatever the mission demands. A force joystick delivers precise gimbal control, and zoom is integrated directly into the handle so operators never have to hunt for it.
An NVG-safe lighting strip ensures the controller is usable on night missions without compromising crew vision.
Broadcast Controllers
Broadcast controllers are lap-sized units that give operators complete command of the system in a single interface — PTZ, focus, ballistics, and an integrated CCU for camera shading and color matching to the rest of the broadcast. Moving Maps, navigation, and video overlay controls are also accessed here.

Production Controllers
Cinema production controllers are lap-sized units offering the full range of camera, lens, and steering controls — available via direct-wired, networked, or wireless protocols for maximum flexibility across any deployment setup. Precise ballistics control lets operators dial in the feel of the system to match the shot.
For productions with a larger camera crew, the GSS FIZ (Focus, Iris, Zoom) controller allows traditional camera assistant functions to be handled by a second operator — freeing the gimbal operator to focus on framing and movement.
Marine Controllers
Marine controller selection follows the camera and sensor configuration of the specific deployment. Broadcast configurations use the broadcast lap controller; cinema configurations use the production controller. Systems configured with multi-sensor payloads may use utility or surveillance controllers depending on mission requirements.
INS and mapping integrations may also influence the optimal control setup for a given marine deployment. We work with each customer to specify the right combination.
